Pope Resources was created in 1985, when its predecessor, Pope & Talbot combined the tree farms, the Port Gamble mill site and town, Port Ludlow, and their undeveloped acreage to form the new, independent company. Twelve years later, we launched Olympic Resource Management (ORM) as a subsidiary that specializes in timberland management and investments in the timber asset class. A year after that we formed a second subsidiary, Olympic Property Group (OPG), that manages and develops real estate properties.
With a lineage that predates Washington statehood, we have continued to innovate and expand, capitalizing on our expertise in PNW forestry. Today, we are headquartered in Poulsbo, Washington with timberland management offices located in Chehalis, Washington and Wilsonville and Grants Pass, Oregon. Our timberlands, real estate, and other land holdings stretch throughout Western Washington, Oregon, and Northern California, and still include the town of Port Gamble, the place where it all began back in 1853.
