It is said that if you are in the timber business, you are also in the real estate business. While that is certainly true, we have found unique ways to leverage our historic timberland holdings in areas undergoing urbanization and hone our local expertise into a business that continues to expand beyond our historic footprint.

Formed in 1998, Olympic Property Group is responsible for the disposition of Pope Resources’ timberland assets where development value exceeds timberland value. OPG is unique in this effort in that we do not sell raw land to developers, instead we take the land through the entitlement process, and invest in both horizontal and vertical development. We successfully developed a 272-acre parcel in Gig Harbor, WA that includes 500+ single-family and 270 multifamily homes, a Costco and a regional YMCA.

In 2017, we purchased land outside of our historical footprint for a joint venture to develop a property on Bainbridge Island, WA, a bedroom community linked by ferry to downtown Seattle.
