Pope Resources allows free public access, for specific purposes, on many of our lands. Please review the contents of this page for information about what is allowed and for map links. For updates about land closures please click the button below.

At Pope Resources we take pride in our stewardship of the timberlands for which we are responsible. While our primary fiduciary duty is to our unit holders and business partners, we recognize that the public values our working forests for a range of recreational opportunities. We allow responsible recreational use of our lands where there is no public safety issue and when such use is consistent with our use and the conservation of public resources such as water, fish, and wildlife. In general, the public’s responsible uses include non-motorized recreational use of roads and lands, but you should review the information on this page for more specific information on allowed uses.

Our lands are commercial working forests. As such, from time to time, we will close areas where we are actively operating. We will post these land closures and require the public to respect closures for their own safety and the safety of our workers. During the summer, we often close our property to all access to reduce the risk of wildfire. Please check our website for any closure announcements.

Hunting and fishing by the public is allowed on most of our lands so long as it is conducted legally under each state’s official regulations. Please see the map for areas where hunting and fishing are allowed.

Pope Resources owns lands within the historic Kapowsin Tree Farm located west of Mt. Rainier National Park. We participate with our neighboring landowners in a unique access program that provides participants with a wide range of recreational opportunities. For more information about this program, please click here.

Recreating on private timberland is a privilege that can be revoked at any time. Violators of our land use policies will be prosecuted and may be banned from the property. We encourage you to report violations of our land access policy or illegal activities to our local tree farm office or directly to law enforcement.
